Search Engine Optimisation
Do we guarantee positions?
No. Not even Google can guarantee you top spot on Google!
Companies that promise top positions generally have plenty of small print for
you to read.
What is Search Engine Optimisation how can it help my business?
In days gone by, in the early years of the Internet things were much simpler than
they are today. Now there are literally billions of web sites available on the web.
Your web site is just like your shop or office:
if you do not promote it effectively then nobody will visit it.
There are two ways of using the search engines to drive traffic to your site,
through organic listings or paid listings. Paid listings are not covered in this article.
Search engines use crawlers or spiders (a kind of search program) to visit your
site. Crawler-based search engines automatically visit web pages to compile their
listings. When your potential clients use any of the major search engines to find
what they are looking for on line they put in keywords relating to your business
for example ‘SEO consultants Spain’.
The results they are given by the search engine will depend not (unfortunately)
on how good your business or product is nor how expert your services and experience
are, but on factors such as how your web site is put together, how often that search
term appears within the text in your web site and how many quality inbound
links you have from other sites. (Among other elements).
Our main focus is providing online or search engine marketing services, which
generate viable leads to our client companies.
Search engine optimisation will ensure that when your potential customers are
searching for products or services that your company provides via the major search
engines your business will be found.
We can provide data for you to measuring your search engine optimisation return
on Investment (ROI), or, how to measure your return on your investment for optimising
a web site.
A simple example on how to measure your return on your investment for
optimising a web site: A Spanish estate agency wants better leads for their business.
The owner appoints a SEO firm to optimise their web site for a fee of 6,000 €
over a six month period.
It’s estimated that 65-75 percent of clicks go to the top 10 web sites or
the first page results on most of the major search engines. Armed with this key
statistics, now it is time to utilize a tool to find out how many searches
were performed for “Spanish Property” in January 2007. It tells us that just
over 8,000 searches were carried out across the web in January 2007 for the
keyword phrase “Spanish Property”. Using a 10-15% estimate, achieving a
number 1 ranking for the keyword phrase “Spanish Property” would bring in nearly
1200 visitors for that month alone. We can expect similar returns for the other
9 related keyword terms the estate agency has decided to target, providing the
SEO company can achieve a top 10 ranking for those keywords as well.
The average web site conversion rate is 1 to 2 very good leads per 100 visitors,
this works out to 1%-2% or about 12 quality leads for the estate agency each month.
We can expect the estate agency to complete between 1 or 2 deals for each
of the 12 leads. That is, for each month of the six months long search engine
optimisation campaign.
So what is the bottom line?
If the average estate agency transactions is worth 5,000 €, over the six months
this could translate into 5,000 X 6 months = 30,000 €. After deducting the search
engine optimization fees of 6,000 € we were left with 24,000 € in extra sales!
